Kolkata Buy Mashrafe Mortaza

Knigtriders began their 2009 campaign with a bang after they purchased the star Bangladeshi seamer Mashrafe Mortaza for a whopping 600,000 USD. Mortaza initially priced at 50,000 USD was overjoyed at the prospect and commented that it was a result of his consistent perfomance. Knightriders faced stiff competition from KIng's Eleven Punjab who were also eyeing the player. On being asked that wether the sum was too great for a player of Mortaza's stature the team officials commented that Mashrafe is a very talented cricketer and a match winner and they wanted him at any cost.
However the purchase of Mortaza by KKR is also viewed as a business tactic as the team wants to expand to Bangladesh as well. There are speculations that Kolkata Knightriders may hold at least 2 of their matches in Bangladesh this year and by buying Mashrafe KKR would be able to attract Bangladeshi fans as well.
